The start of translation

Helping researchers translate their work.

Start Codon

There is so much excellent research happening in Australia. We are leaders in genomics, immunology and molecular biology. However, when compared to other countries - we struggle to translate our work.

We don’t communicate the significance of our discoveries and achievements to our stakeholders - impacting governmental and public support. Moreover, we don’t see commercialisation as an avenue to effect change.

Start Codon was founded to help scientists better translate their research.

To achieve this, we have developed programmes that;

  • Build a community within an institute, facility or school that educates, encourages, and supports researchers in both their academic, and commercial endeavours

  • Ensure that every researcher who joins an organisation will be exposed to career paths outside of academia and will have the opportunity to develop skills that are complementary to the skills they’re developing as researchers

  • Give scientists a toolkit to communicate the value of their research to a wider range of people (including Technology Transfer Offices, Policy Makers, and Philanthropists)
